On July 2, 1937 the President of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers, Joseph A. Mullaney and the Financial Secretary and Treasurer, C.W. Sickles signed the Local 49 Charter. Signatory to that charter were eight men:

Marshall Christofferson

Victor Winberg

Hans Barnstorf

Martin Gunderson

Edward Christofferson

Thomas Thorstensen

Alfred Hansen

Joseph Tentoff

These eight men started a legacy of professionalism and pride in workmanship that is still our focus today.

Nearly seventy years later, we are a sixty person strong local that trains our apprentices through a four year program that is indentured through the state of Minnesota. We plan to take our local into the future and meet the demands of an ever-changing business environment.
